On Saturday, July 20, 2024 at approximately 8:35 pm, Ward 6 Fire responded as automatic aid to assist DeQuincy Volunteer Fire Department with a structure fire on South Perkins Street

Upon arrival, a residential structure was heavily involved with fire. Radiant heat from the fire was threatening a nearby residence causing damage to the second structure. HOUSTON RIVER FIRE DEPARTMENT was requested to assist with additional manpower and equipment.
Firefighters immediately utilized fire streams to protect the 2nd home and conducted defensive fire attack operation to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries to fire personnel on scene or occupants of the structure.
Investigation into the cause of the fire has been turned over to the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal.
