At 12:28pm, Ward 6 Engines 5, 11, 17, Service 6 and Unit 901 responded with 10 firefighters to a reported structure fire on Pine Knolls Dr @ High Hope Rd. Upon arrival of 901, heavy fire was observed coming from the roof and attic area Firefighters conducted a transitional fire attack and quickly contained the fire within the attic. The home had serious damage from fire, smoke, and water.

Houston River Fire Department and DeQuincy Fire Department responded as automatic aid to assist. Deputies from Calacasieu Parish Sheriff's Office arrived shortly before the fire department and rescued one dog from the structure, firefighters were also able to rescue a pet bird from the residence.

Homeowners were not home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries to firefighters on scene.
