One was dispatched to a reported structure fire in a commercial building on Hwy 12 East of the DeQuincy City Limits. Unit 901 and Engine 7 responded with 2 Firefighters.

Automatic Aid response from DeQuincy Volunteer Fire Department and HOUSTON RIVER FIRE DEPARTMENT was critical to investigating and mitigating this incident due to the lack of volunteer firefighters available from Ward 6.

At 3:43am, Ward 6 Fire responded to a mutual aid request from Ward 1 Fire for a structure fire. Ward 6 responded with Engine 17 and unit 901 staffed with 4 firefighters.

Mutual aid was activated to provide coverage for the Ward 6 district while our units were assisting Ward 1.

Volunteers are desperately needed at all volunteer departments in Calcasieu Parish.
Without volunteers, most departments do not have the funding to hire firefighters to provide critical emergency response services to the community.
