Busy day for Ward 6 Fire

At 12:16pm, Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One was requested via mutual aid to assist Beauregard Parish Fire District 2 with a large grass fire on Camp Edgewood Rd. Units 901, 903, and Brush 22 responded with 5 firefighters. Upon arrival, DeQuincy Volunteer Fire Department was requested to respond to the location with and Engine and Brush UTV.

The fire was extinguished by fire department personnel and the scene was cleared ar approx 1:50pm.

At 3:05pm, Ward 6 was dispatched to H. Broussard rd. off High Hope rd. to investigate smoke in the area. Units 901, 903, Brush 22 and Service 10 responded. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered approx. one acre of grass and Brush burning that started from an unattended burn pile. HOUSTON RIVER FIRE DEPARTMENT was requested via mutual aid for a brush truck and brush utv.

While mopping up all of the hot spots on this call , Ward 6 was dispatched to a vehicle Fire in the 1200 blk of hwy 27 north of DeQuincy. Ward 6 requested DeQuincy Fire to respond to this call. Captain Loy Bader arrived on scene and resported a small fire, the call was handled by DQFD.

While these calls were being worked, at 4:29pm, Ward 6 Fire was dispatched as automatic aid to Houston River FD for a reported structure fire on Christy Ln. Unit 901, Engine 19, and Service 10 responded to assist with an attached garage and storage building heavily involved with fire. Sulphur Fire and Carlyss Fire also responded as mutual aid.

Crews cleared the grass fire on H. Broussard and while returning to the station at 5:07pm, Ward 6 was dispatched as automatic aid to a structure fire on 2nd street in DeQuincy. Ward 6 Engine 5, Engine 11, Service 10 and Unit 903 responded. Ward 5 Fire was requested to respond to Ward 6 Station 2 to standby for additional calls should they occur in the Ward 6 district.

DeQuincy FD arrived on 2nd Street and canceled all other response from Ward 6.

Crews on Christy Ln. were released to return to Ward 6 District at 6:04pm. Your dedicated firefighters then joined approximately 60 firefighters from multiple departmemts at 6:30pm for hands on live fire training at the Calcasieu Emergency Response Training Center
