Wes joined the Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One as a volunteer in October of 1988. He and his late wife, Faye Barton were the first volunteer firefighters to join the department when it was created. Wes was still an honorary member at the time of his passing on December 4, 2024 for a total of 36 years dedication to his community and the fire department.
