Ward 6 Fire has a busy Friday! |

! On Friday, March 21, 2025 at 12:37pm, Ward 6 Fire responded to a mutual aid request from Ward 1 Fire for a woods fire on Cypress Lake Rd in the Moss Bluff area. Ward 6 responded with Service 10, Brush 22, Unit 901 and 5 Ff and 1 support personnel. At 1:47pm, Ward 6 was dispatched to a woods fire in the 1100 blk of Rigmaiden Cemetery Rd. DeQuincy FD responded with an Engine and Brush UTV, Houston River responded with a brush truck and 2 Brush UTVs, Ward 6 Service 8, Service 10, Brush 21 & 22, Engine 5 and Unit 901 responded. Approx. 25 acres were burning in a heavily wooded area While at the Rigmaiden Cemetery call, at about 4:05pm, Ward 6 was notified of a possible woods fire on Marcantel Rd. Engine 5, Unit 992 and Brush 21 responded. Upon arrival a landowners was conducting a control burn. At 4:20pm, Ward 6 dispatched to Pinder Lane and Highway 389 for a trailer fire near a propane tank. Unit 901, Service 8, Engine 5 and 11 responded. DeQuincy Police Department officers arrived prior to fire department and deployed fire extinguishers to control the fire until arrival of Service 8. Personnel extinguished the remaining smoldering areas on a low boy trailer and grass in the area. All other units were canceled and returned to Rigmaiden Cemetery rd call. All Ward 6, Dequincy, and Houston River Units were completely with assignments and returned to their stations at around 5:30pm. At 7:19pm, Ward 6 was dispatched to a dirt bike accident with injuries on Bobbit Rd. Engine 11, Units 901 and 904 responded with 7 firefighters. Personnel provided medical care until arrival of Acadian. Acadian transported the patients to the hospital. At 7:59pm, Ward 6 dispatched back to Rigmaiden Cemetery Rd for fire behind the Cemetery. E11, Service 6, Unit 901 responded from Bobbit rd and on arrival discovered the fire had crossed the fire lanes plowed earlier. Firefighters extinguished the fire using a truck mounted master stream. The fire was extinguished and all units returned to Service at approx 9:15pm. Please be careful when burning yard waste, have adequate water supply, and monitor weather conditions before burning on windy days. |
