!

Ward 6 Fire Protection District #1 participates in the Operation Save a Life program and we are extremely excited about the success the program has had within our community.

Over the last 4 years, the volunteer, part time, and career staff members have worked diligently to quickly respond to alarm install requests. Visiting with citizens in the community and ensuring they have working smoke detectors gives us some peace of mind that those citizens will be notified should a fire occur in their home.

The stats for the program are exciting to see:

2021 (22) detectors installed in (6) homes.
2022 (560) detectors installed in (195) homes.
2023 (58) detectors installed in (22) homes.
2024 YTD (48) detectors installed in (21) homes

Total alarms installed = 688
Total homes visited = 244

The program is offered through the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal and their initiative to reduce home fire deaths in Louisiana.

“Operation Save-A-Life” was created to combat the rise in fire related injuries and deaths due to home fires in our great state. The goal of this statewide initiative is to dramatically reduce these fire related injuries and deaths across the State of Louisiana by providing smoke alarms to vulnerable citizens and at-risk communities with the help of your local fire department.

October is fire prevention month and we want to remind everyone to test your alarms, if battery operated alarms have removable batteries, Change Them!!

We are still offering free alarms installation to the citizens, if you want to help us protect you and need smoke alarms installed in your residence please call us at 337-786-2775, email us at admin@ward6fire.com or send us a private message here on Facebook.

Our coverage area is is the DeQuincy/North Sulphur area. If you are unsure of which department provides fire protection in your area we will provide you with contact information to reach out to other departments participating in the program.
