Ward Six Fire Protection has numerous dry fire hydrants throughout our fire district. These hydrants play an important part of fire suppression when the water system is not designed to support fire water supply. All of our dry fire hydrants are tested annually and have signs installed to identity them.
Just what is a dry fire hydrant?
A dry fire hydrant is a non-pressurized pipe system permanently installed in a water source such as lakes or ponds that permits the withdrawal of water by drafting from a fire truck to provide a reliable water source for fire suppression close to the incident.
Here are photos of a few of the dry fire hydrants installed throughout our district. We have also included a diagram of a typical dry fire hydrant installation.
We are fortunate that so many of our citizens have allowed us to install these hydrants on their ponds and lakes. |
