| At 11:09 am, Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One was dispatched as mutual aid to assist Beauregard Parish Fire District 2 with a oil storage tank fire on Pete Gimnick Rd.
Command unit 901, Engines 5 and 7 responded with 7 firefighters. On arrival of Beauregard FD 2, several storage tanks were burning as well as a ground spill fire within a dike retention area.
Upon completion of size-up, an incident action plan was established. Firefighters deployed (2) 500 gpm ground monitors and established a water supply utilizing multiple tankers from BFD 2. Ward 6 Engine 7 deployed firefighting foam on the ground monitors and utilized a master stream to cool the tanks. The fire was brought under control quickly with approximately 100 gallons of foam agent and about 6,000 gallons water.
Other agencies that also responded: Beauregard Fire District 1, Beauregard Fire District 3, Louisiana DEQ.
Citgo Emergency Response Team was requested to respond with firefighting foam; however, they were canceled prior to arriving due to the quick extinguishment of the fire.
