On Thursday, Oct.8, 2026, at 3:42pm Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One responded to a mutual aid request from Beauregard Parish Fire District 1 orr a reported Grass/wildland fire on Abshire Road north of Starks. Engine 5 and Brush unit 21 responded. All Ward 6 units cleared the scene at 4:32pm.
At 3:51 pm, Beauregard Fire District 1 requested assistance for a reported woods fire on Missouri St. in the Oretta Community. Service 6 and Service 10 responded. DeQuincy Volunteer Fire Department was also requested as mutual aid with brush UTVs. Firefighters were able to contain the fire and extinguish it. All Ward 6 Units cleared the scene at 5:27pm. All Ward 6 units released from the scene at 6:59pm.
At 5:24pm, Ward 5 Fire Protection (Starks area) requested Ward 6 Fire and HOUSTON RIVER FIRE DEPARTMENT to respond to assist with a wildland fire threatening structures on Howard Rd. in Starks. Engine 5, Brush 21, Service 10 and Command Unit 901 responded. Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry was also requested to respondvwith dozers to the approximate 10 acre wildland fire.
Weather conditions this weekend are conducive for fires to start easily and soread rapidly. Low Humidity values and elevated winds can cause fires to spread rapidly. Please burn with caution or observe burn bans in the areas that have them. |
